2tablespoonsunsalted butter

2large sweet white onionschopped

¼cupPorter beerplus 3 tablespoons, divided
8ouncescream cheeseat room temperature
1cupsour cream
½teaspoonblack pepper
½teaspoonsmoked paprika
½teaspoongarlic powder
¼cupchopped green onions
Instructions
Heat a sauté pan over medium heat, add butter and oil, and stir until the butter has melted. Add the onions. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 5 minutes or until the onions start to soften.
Add the salt and porter and cook for about 25 minutes or until the onions start to caramelize. Stir occasionally and keep watch on the heat so the onions don't burn.
Add the cream cheese, sour cream, caramelized onions, Porter, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder to a food processor. Pulse until smooth but still with a few chunks. Add the green onions and pulse once or twice to combine.
